Technical Specifications

Calcium Silicate Insulation

General Description

Low-density calcium silicate insulations are used as thermal insulation layers in most high-temperature industrial units, improving energy storage and thermal efficiency. Amol Dirgodaz Industries offers various types of lightweight calcium silicate boards (SD-CS series) with a maximum operating temperature of 1100°C.

Production Process and Specifications

These products are manufactured using formulations including components such as silica- and calcium-based materials, additives, and reinforcing fibers, through a hydrothermal synthesis process in an autoclave. This manufacturing process results in high-quality parts with stable structural and phase characteristics, uniform porous microstructure, leading to excellent insulation performance and long service life.

Technical features of these products include:

  • High thermal stability
  • Low bulk density
  • Low thermal conductivity
  • High compressive and flexural strength
  • Low thermal shrinkage and high dimensional stability
  • Chemical corrosion resistance in reducing atmospheres (CO, CH₄, NH₃)
  • Good machinability and cutting capability

Physical and Mechanical Properties

The following data represent typical average values of physical and mechanical properties for different types of calcium silicate boards, which also have usual variation ranges. These parameters have been evaluated according to standard methods. Additionally, new products can be produced according to customers' technical requests and special design needs for various industrial applications.

Applications

Calcium silicate boards are commonly used as backup thermal insulation layers in combination with other refractory layers such as bricks and monolithics. They are also not typically used as the primary layer in high-temperature conditions exposed to thermal stress and thermal shock.

These products are used in thermal units of the following industries:

  • Ferrous and non-ferrous metals (melting furnaces, forging, rolling, and heat treatment)
  • Aluminum (anode baking furnaces, electrolysis cells)
  • Chemical and petrochemical (thermal cracking units)
  • Ceramics (firing and sintering kilns)
  • Glass (melting, refining, annealing, and heat treatment units)
  • Cement
